Student Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship is a challenging sport! It is filled with uncertainties and yet each step gives a lot of experience and satisfaction, I feel , here in India there is no encouragement for student enterprising. Based on statistics, there are more number of students joining IT companies, rather than working on their own ideas or making choice on their own.First of all they aren't aware about what innovation actually is ! I have seen many blogs talk about many points on starting a startup or being successful, but there is no blog which has content in a practical way for a student.

I have a IDEA, but I am not sure whether it can be implemented or not, this is how it starts, then we plan , discuss and think on all possible angles and open ourselves to new opinions, finally we try to eliminate all the uncertainties to the possible extent, then financial problems arise hmmm... wait a second , Isnt this applicable to all people who are starting a startup?? i agree whatever i am discussing holds good for a graduated professional too, but remember one thing these exams are the worst enemies for student entrepreneurs and in a country like India where they totally believe in marks its very tough to go against or balance both! The best place for student entrepreneur is "UNCONFERENCE". But I hardly see students in any unconference!, Here is a video where student entrepreneurs share their experiences on starting their own business even before they graduate... In one of My previous posts on "Education" I have share my thoughts on , how to eliminate this problem from the current system.

I google'd and found some interesting links... check it out
* Our Education should support Student Enterprising and encourage entrepreneurs for a better world.

Most of us would be agree with what you have written..
And its not just for entrepreneurship..India needs innovation in all the fields..
Even if you work for an IT company you should be encouraged to think rather than follow their rules like slaves..
And the need of the hour is to have some significant changes in the education system as in right from the beginning the seeds of innovation should be sowed..We should be encouraged to think and our ideas motivated..
The concept of Unconference is brilliant..
Also the supportive links r great...

yeah we students need a lot of encouragement to deviate from the norm and do something on our own.

@ charu - Well i agree, but its not true with all IT companies! Google offers 20%of employees time for innovation, but majority IT companies don't support free thinkers or innovation!

Thanks for your comments :-)

@ Akash - Nice to see your comments :-), Originality is lost in education ! thats why unconferences are there!

Hey laks, I liked that video which u have posted. Those students in the video look almost our age and they have their own businesses?? Thats really cool. We should all take a leaf out of their books.

I think that video is of students from Singapore. The universities there themselves provide a lot of encouragement to students, which you cant see in India. So once this problem is solved, I think there will be a lot of young entrepreneurs in India too.

The two feet principle is sumthn evry1 ought 2 follow...I personally loved it !

“[I]f at any time you find yourself in any situation where you are neither learning nor contributing—use your two feet and move to some place more to your liking.”

Hope the Entrepreneur REVOLUTION triggers off pretty soon...
Rock on

Impressive post on student entrepreneurship... I always thought it was good to start up.. but the thought of starting up never occurred to me while in college!

It seems like a good idea to try starting up right from college ;o)
